I bought one of these but sent it back due to there not being any patched firmware available (there now is) and bought the regular bm7000s. Good boxes but they do lack features of a dream box. If all you want it a good box to watch HD tv and a prettyish interface then its great. If you want a bit more, such as streaming to internet, then go for the HD dreambox. -
Just out of curiosity. who patches the firmware? I just see people posting patched firmwares but who actually patches it?I bought one of these but sent it back due to there not being any patched firmware available (there now is) and bought the regular bm7000s. Ok, box was delivered yesterday....
This box suits me perfectly with the satellite and cable tuner, as an unfortunate tree blocks 28.2e out completely
The box itself was fairly straightforward to set up. USALS is inputed with only one decimal digit but it works absolutely fine. I tried using the set lists for the satellites but they were incomplete. Auto scan on the satellites returned quite a few missing channels, but a blind scan picked up everything.
It was a bit awkward to set up the cable tuner, it's hidden at the back of the satellite list as tuner 2. Anyone who used a eurovox in the old cable days will know that the scanning could sometimes return missing channels. Eventually, after auto scanning, it picked up everything.
Bouquets etc are pretty crap, DM800 is light years ahead on this score. The EPG seems pretty poor as well, but I'm not too bothered about this
Recording works really well. Time shift and stuff is excellent, and much more reliable than DM800.
The patched firmware is easy to set up and implement. Inputting the C-Line if you are that way inclined seems fairly straightforward, via the 9991 menu. It's different from using a c-line on a Linux box, but it's a doddle to do and google will bring up an easy tutorial to input it from C: format.
The picture is every bit as good as DM800 or anything I have seen so far.
I probably prefer the layout of the
Linux boxes, but the combination of the two tuners is exactly what I was looking for
Overall, I'm absolutely delighted with the boxComment

Do you need to just scan the cable and it will work with all premium channels or just fta?Comment
