    Magic eye question

I want to be able to put my sky box out of sight but can't due to changing channels, i was thinking if I connect a magic eye to my box and only have the eye on show, will this work?
    Thanks Adam

Yes it will.you could put your sky box in the attic say and run the lead from the rf out to a digieye on the desired tv.

Hi i hope you won't mind me posting a question on this thread as i have a similar question, would be a waste of time making a new thread.

I have a tv cabinet like in the link below which hides my Blade box. However even tho its made to be IR remote friendly its not very and i end up having to open the front so i can change channels.

What id like to know is if i connect one of these magic eyes which i have bought online (still waiting for it to arrive) and say have the IR bit on top of the tv will it work like that?

      Buy S & C COM251OBO | TV STAND FOR SCREENS UP TO 50'' - TV Stands | Comet

I am afraid a magic eye will only work on a Sky box due to RF2 giving out the 9v power supply needed to control the eye, You can however install a magic eye type device with a tvLink+ adaptor as well as an Rf Modulator with scart as the Blade receiver does not have in inbuilt RF modulator.

buy a global plus infra red transmitter and psu as well as the eye and it will work

alternatively use the eye with a bluedelta av17990 super-blaster and psu which is another manufacturers infra red transmitter

the principles are the same in that the transmitters feed the eye with the voltage , and accept the cable commands from the eye , then they blast it out of infra red transmitters that you aim towards the front of the box ( any box will work this way , satellite , cable , sky , freesat , dvd recorders and vcr`s too )

Another good solution from ramjet as well but which ever one you choose you will still require a Scart RF Modulator so you can feed the eye an RF lead.

you only need the rf adapter IF the box is in another room and you wish to send channels to it over an aerial coax feed using an rf channel like the sky box uses

IF the box is in a cabinet and you just want to use an eye outside the cabinet you need the infra red transmitter in the cabinet , preferably in front of the receiver you are controlling , in which case you do not need an rf modulator and you do not need coaxial cable either

I have fitted ones in friends houses like the one you want for your cabinet for cable and sat boxes , and if the receiver is near the tv you only need the eye and the delta blue or the global plus inside the cabinet , and a power supply plugged in to feed the eye with low dc voltage which it requires to power it , it really is that simple

You could also use an infrared kit that allows all your items behind a closed badinet with just 1 transmitter on the top, I have one of these that i dont use anymore and lets you control 4 devices behind or inside a cabinet this HERE works like a treat and you dont need a magic eye the one i linked to only has eyes for 2 components mine has 4 and i could be swayed to sell it. LOL

I too have used similar devices , mine being marmitek pyramids and they work with any infra red controlled device too

Will the eye connect straight into the back of the sky box without any extra wiring?

yes on the rf2 output , but it also needs enabling in the sky box menu so that it gets fed some power , otherwise it wont work

I use this Remote Control IR Repeater : Remote Controls Accessories : Maplin Electronics You'll find it cheaper. It controls my V+ box and at present a golden media it has also worked on dreambox, openmedia, VU Duo and too many more to mention I dont even stick them on just dangle them in a daisy chain in front of the boxes and they work perfectly. I have my boxes behind my fireplace all you see is the little black box.
