    Motorised dish moving?

    Hi all,

I have an 80cm motorised dish with a Technomate 9100s and every once in a while I am unable to get a signal on 16e (Tring Sports usually). I need to move the dish 1 step to the east to get it. The same channel worked fine the day before. So to fix it I add .005 onto the Latitude un USALS to get it to work again. This has happened 3 or 4 times. Does this sound like my dish could be moving off allignment?? I have since found out that the bloke that installed it is pretty crap ha. I am in South Shields UK if anybody knows a good installer that could help allign it correctly if required.

I am also unable to get a signal on Viasat PL channels (4.8e) but this may be a genuine signal/dish size issue.

    Thanks
    Dave

Helps if you choose a channel with a strong transonder then go back to the channel you want.

      Andy,
Yea cheers, I've tried that. Only way to get a lock is to move 1 step east still. 28.3, 19 and 13 all seem strong enough. Seems to me 16e that drifts. Strange symptoms :-s

if you have to step to the east you want to adjust your longitude in the box by 0.2 degrees at a time to the west til you get max signal dont alter the latitude leave that at your location lat which should be the same as set on your motor.just stepping to the east on usals does not work because as soon as you exit or change channel/sat the dish reverts to its original setting.although some TMs change to diseqc 1.2 for any sat you step.leaving the rest on usals

Can you use USALS on some sats and diseqc 1.2 on other sats within the same receiver and motor ?

you can on my TM6800 but not on my TM5400 so it depends on the box if on a channel with usals set you press blue button and move til you lose signal then save if the picture returns no you cant as its reverted back to usals automatically.if it stays off tune then yes and you will have to go into motorised settings to change it back to usals.

Your dish has moved off line in the wind.It has shifted Westwards ,due to an Easterly wind.
You can partially realign it by stepping East as you have done but that will only be a temporary fix and eventually you will lose 16e.
You havent noticed problems on the other stronger satellites 28,19e and 13e as they have a much stronger signal.
I had similar problems to yourself and a physical realignment was eventually needed.
