maybe loose wire on lnb or water got into cable,if all boxes were the same i would have said dish movement in the very high wind.

      further info for your consideration

Also worth adding to my post above that my signal strength is as follows
      input 1 40%
      input 1 signal quality 60%
      input 2 signal strength 20%

Also meant to add above that if I switch sky HD box off at the mains and reboot the picture breakup and freezing stops both on live programmes and sky plus recorded progrmmes
Any input from you guys would be very helpful
      Cheers
      Harv

Thats pretty poor signal from what are powerful sats. I think you need your dish alignment checked with figures like that. I get 90% minimum on my box.

I am a complete novice am I able to re-align my disk or should I get an airiel man in to do it professionally?

Also does poor signal strength result in picture freezing shudder and breakup or is that going to be a result of HD box cable connection fault etc?

very high winds have moved loads of dishes out of sync or into neighbors garden.

it is your signal problem for sure.... hd channels to work without issue will need minimum of 40% snr...and obviously in the wind....even that may not be enough. 60% is good and stable even in the wind.
