    Help with sat finder

Hi folks my dish got blew in the wind and lost my signal, I seen it was only screwed in with 2 rusty bolts. So this was reason why, I've now refitted 4 new bolts made it a lot more stable, started up dm800 and tried getting picture nothing, went to b&q bought a sat finder, connected it up to lnb
When I turned clockwise it made the noise went up to 10 turned down silent, what is it I'm suppose to do with these

    Help would be appreciated

It is not as simple as hearing the sat finder make noise and thats it. You have to ensure that the dish is connecting to the right satellite. I assume that you want to connect to 28.2 east.

The best way to ensure that it is the right satellite that you are connecting to is if you have either an android or smart phone you could download dishpointer an app that tells you were to position your satellite.

Alternatively you could use the old fashion way of using a compass to figure out were to point the dish.

Or you could simply take the lnb out of the sat finder and back into the satellite and check out down were your tv is to see if you are connected to the right satellite. It can be in furiating but don't give up.

just place the dm on bbc1 , with the sat finder attached , and move the dish until you get a strong signal and get bbc1 (if you want 28.2e)

then finely adjust until you peak the signal , checking weak transponders like vintage tv, as well as strong transponders like the new c5 and 5usa

check horizontal and vertical fta channels until you are happy with it , then lock it up tight

How do I actually work the sat finder ? As soon as I connected to lnb turned up clockwise it signalled with noise went to 10 lowered anti clockwise went to 0. Am I suppose to get the 10 when turned anti ? Then I'm on it ?
I'm just not sure how it works
Looked on iPhone apps at sat finder looking at ?13 - ?15

My personal opinion is forget the iphone app, for me its total crap, and the sat position on there kept moving.

Go to Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com
Enter your location and get a idea at where your pointing at, also have a look at a neighbours dish if you can.

For the sat finder, roughly position the dish where it should be. and turn up until you hear the sound. Then turn down slow untill the sound stops. Slightly start moving the dish, (up, down, left right) Until you here the sound again, keep tweaking till you hear the high pitched sound.

Then turn the sound down again, and repeat till you get the high pitched sound again. Keep doing this till you get 99% signal.

The sat finders are totally useless if used wrong, but the best gadget ever once you know how to use it properly.
