how much should i pay for a motorised dish install?

Hi. I am looking to have an 80 cm dish supplied and installed to use with my spiderbox.
I would prefer the dish to be installed on my roof, cable run down thw wall and through the wall into my living room.
I have had quotes in the region of ?300 for 80cm triax dish, darkmotor supreme, and all fixings, etc.
I think these quotes sound a bit high. What do you reckon?
Anyone know any installers that serve aldershot that they recommend?
    Thx

Not that bad if done 100% correct.
    Dish+ cable+motor maybe ?150
Leaves the fitter ?150 to do job, which if not easy to get to or line of sight issues wont be a quick job.
Always remember installers have to have insurance/vans/tools/meters etc and these are not cheap.
Yes someone could buy the kit for say ?150 and charge ?80 for doing it but make sure they are capable of job and have good feedback from other customers.
Ask yourself how much do you want for a days work?
Do you need to have all the kit an installer needs and van etc.
There are overheads running a business, and if the job takes over half a day due to whatever reason then a days pay will be incurred.

Your price has gone up ?20 from the other forum post, Personally i could do it cheaper but i don't cover aldershot. go back to AVforums and see if pedro will come and do it for you or if he has anyone on his books in that area.

Quotes have varied from ?280- ?380.
Still a bit to pricey for me. Might go for a multi lnb setup instead

As i said on the other forum ?280 aint bad and lets not forget you want this roof/chimney mounting. I have to pay Public Liability to ensure that if the worse did happen i can cover the cost of any damage and also dont forget do you fancy going onto your own roof up to a chimney carting a triax 80cm with motor attached and various tools to fix and align it.

A bit of that is called danger money, I have heard countless times people say its not that high i could do it, your right from the ground looking up it looks nothing i can tell you now and i have been in this game years, when i subbied for companys and had trainees out cock sure of themselves i use to love the look on there face when they got up to a chimney on a normal 2 storey house generally they went pale and froze and i lost count of the times i had to go up and get them down. LMFAO.

All i can say is if your complaining of the cost then by all means get all the equipment yourself and get up there and do it and good luck to you if you do

If you have a southish facing wall its an easyish job to do yourself,if you do go for a multi lnb setup if you choose sats that are close together make sure to use narrow feedhorn lnbs and a rail that uses slim clamps.I use a gibertini dish and multi lnb holder with 4 Alps lnbs for a protek setup and it works a treat.multisat is not cheaper than a motor but is instant change over with no noise.

Dick B, what size dish is that?
I was thinking of 9e, 13e, 19,2e and 28e on an 80 cm dish. Would that work?

Do it your self, if you can use a spirt level and a drill then your sorted.

Take your time and done get dishearten if you do it over a couple of days.

I installed my own 3 years ago now and and with the help of my mate and some reading I got it down over 2 days of tinkering with it.

Now I can put a 80cm motorised up in about a hour and that was only after a few installs.

Give it a go at least.

Here is a basic but effective guide on how to install.

                  Might help you

                  Sat set up.pdf

                  For the West of Scotland on a 800cm I can get 9e, 13e, 16 (patial) 19, 23(partial) 28

Thx mate, but I'm a single parent with a 2 and 5 year old so really can't take 2 days out to do it.
Grandparents are all abroad so noone to palm them off on for a few days.
Can you imagine what they'd get up to with all that gear about.LOL
Digicon, I wasn't saying they are charging to much, I was saying it is to much for me to afford and justify spending with the amount of free time I have to watch telly.
I still have to get the spiderbox as well so ?450 is a little to much for me to afford.

No worries mate i was not trying to have a go or anything, I applaud anyone who is willing to do it themselves and at the end of the day not only is is cheaper but also gives that person a satisfaction in knowing that they did it themselves. Its the same in any trade whether your going to fit a kitchen build a wall do some electrics etc.. all fair play to everyone for having a go.

Being in the south i am afraid the prices quoted to you are no doubt in line with what ever the local boys are charging down there, Here in the north its a different kettle of fish every man and his dog is doing it for a job and even i find i cant compete on some quotes because they are ludicrously low and 9 times out of 10 the guy who does the job ball's it up and to top it off aint even insured to work on your property, where at the stage now i even have to be CRB checked every 12 months to remain a member of some organizations, So as you can see this all factors into the cost.

Just to give you an idea that ?280 up here in the north would probably get you a spiderbox and the TD78, darkmotor, Black Ultra installed by some people.

                      Give it a go yourself

I never mentioned the 9000 and i never mentioned that i would do it for that price either your talking another ?100 on top, and those prices are a little out if you want to quote RRP's then

                          Spiderbox 7000 ?149
                          TD78cm ?39
                          Superior Darkmotor ?49
                          Inverto Ultra Black Single ?12.99

                          Total ?249.99 RRP

As i said thats at RRP's but some people would install at that or maybe add anothe ?20 to round it off for a nice ?300 as the Op originally said, But at that price it aint gonna be right.

And also lets not forget you can pick up an 80cm motorised dish pack with all items including wall mount cable and bolts for ?89 from some online retail shops

its an 85cm dish in the pic.I see no reason it shouldnt work if you use 19.2 east as prime as they are all strong sats but they are more fiddly to set up than a motor and as you say cost is an issue you will need to cost out the difference.for the multi setup you will need a multi bracket with 4 holders suitable for the dish,4x LNBs and a 4way diseqc switch in addition to the rest of the gear.but if you motorise you only need the motor and 1 lnb. What ever you decide someone on here will help you if you need it.but if you have to do an over the gutter job I personally would not do it off a ladder but would want some tower scaffolding.(I only go to step ladder height)
