I am not the best at this, but are they connected the right way round on the Motor?? Are the connections okay - possibly remake the connection to the LNB, and Motor to LNB connection? Is it setup correctly in your STB?

They are the things I would check.

Hi. What are you using USALS or DISEQC (1,2)?? If you are using DISECQ remember that you will need to find each satellite manually and save their positions otherwise the motor will just stay where it is because it wont know where to go. If you are using USALS the motor should move automatically. Also do you know if your motor is USALS compatible?. A lot of the older motors were only made for DISEQC software and not USALS. Google your motor model and find out if it has USALS software. i suspect that if you have the cables fitted correctly and you have the green power light then you may have only DISEQC software. A good test that you can try is to reset the motor to zero reference via the menu option. But before you do this i would set the motor option to DISECQ (1.2) and save your current satellite otherwise you may end up losing it and will need to refind it again manually. If the dish does not move to zero position using either USALS or DISECQ then your motor may be faulty. I would advise also that you are familiar with the motor menu within your receiver otherwise you may end up with further problems. If you require further advice let us know. Regards.

im guessing here but dm500s clones are known to have issues sometimes with motorised dishes due to lack of power to move the motor ect. if you have changed the cable from motor to lnb and are sure your downlead is ok then try another reciever (not a dm500)to see if that works. its just a case of eliminating each possible cause untill you find the fault... you state that the equipment was second hand., did you see it working correctly? surely when the installer fitted the system he showed it your working/changing sat positions ect. regards mdt

Change power setting in stb motor menu.
