    Sat signal problems

I have two dm800 receivers, one upstairs in a bedroom and one downstairs in the lounge. They are both running from the same dish which is capable of running upto four receivers. The dm800 upstairs works fine with perfect signal on every channel, the one downstairs has alot weaker signal and is very glitchy and patchy on alot of channels. This is the same weather the dm800 upstairs Is turned on and in use or not. I am at a loss to why this is happening? If anyone had any ideas or solutions I would be greatfull. Thanks in advance.*

the cable from dish to downstairs dm may have water in it etc.. or the problem box may have tuner probs.. try upstairs box down stairs.. if its fine, that rules out the cable,

Looks like a tuner problem on the one downstairs, think you might have to change tuner on it.

Same problems occours if upstairs dm800 is set up downstairs and vice versa, so I don't think there is a problem with either one of the receivers =\ how would I check re water in cable. Thanks

If using a quad lnb, just swap over one of the spare ports.

Cheers guys. I'll try swapping it over first and test that, flailing that I'll chase a new cable in.

Upon going to swap to a diff output I noticed that the end of te cable where it plugs into the dish was rusty. I replaced the end and remade the end of the cable, looked all good, no signs of rust. But problem continues. Signal upstairs is a constant 95-98 % but downstairs signal ranges and drops as low as 30% for a second then peaks back up before dropping down again. It dosnt affect all channels. Espn HD and discovery HD seem to be the worst, alongside a few other HD sports channels. I'm unsure weather water would of ran down inside the cable but can't see any signs of this. Is replacing the cable my only other option? Cheers

disconnect both ends of cable then put an ohm meter between the center core of the cable and the screening you should not get a reading.you could also try the cable in the outlet that feeds the other box if it now works its the lnb outlet.did you do as manic01 suggested or put the cable back in the same outlet?

Yes I did a he said. Remade both ends of the cable and switched to a diff lnb output. It only really seems to happen on discovery HD and espn HD all the rest seem to work perfect, but on them two channels signal is up and down like a yo yo, yet both them channels work perfect upstairs. Didn't know if adjusting the dish would make a differance but signal upstairs seems a pretty solid 96% but is not that high downstairs? Cheers

Hi, I also have those 2 channels glitching, the bottom half of the screen jumping around lots, but I had put it down to my dish alignment as I'm setting a multi lnb up at the minute and I know I lose signal quality, be interesting to see if it's some other reason,im running the latest nemesis image on dm800hd clone.

If the connection of the cable was rusty then the whole cable is probably shot, capillary action will occur with the water ingress , always seal your joints with kyjelly an rubberised tape

Re your comment mate, I was advised to buy an inline signal booster to solve the problem. Picked on up fairly cheap of eBay and it's solved my problem. Might be worth a try for you.
