    Ideas on installation

    moved into a different house

old set up had a [ame="http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004QRSSYI/"]80cm motorised dish[/ame] connected to side of garage.

need the dish on the front of my property, pic attatched, just wondered if you guys could think of best place? would the chimney be ok? maybe on a pole connected to it?

i have a satellite installer coming at some point this week to set it up but i would like to give him a heads up on where to put it , so any ideas would be great, thank you

by the way, the dish in the pic on the brick wall is for my house, standard Sky dish, pointing at 28e

    cheers

cant see anywhere suitable on your pic m8

the dish cannot protrude above the roofline so the chimey is out of the question, never mind the wind loading or piercing the brickwork or flu issues

I would set it in the garden on a concrete bed.

L.O.S. permitting and using say a 12 inch t+k or 2 U brackets and pole arrangment then top right on the brickwork just under the eaves as your chimney already has tv ariel and mini-dish on it. the position ive suggested is not ideal as a larger spread of brickwork is usually recommended especially for the t+k although a 80cm motorised dish isnt heavy and should be ok if set up securely/correctly..these are just my opinions as a hobby installer and im far from a expert with still quite a bit to learn. if you are paying a professional installer to do the job its down to him to find the best/safest position for maximum range of arc for a motorised dish. regards mdt

Over the porch would probably be ideal but it looks like it is felted so out of the question unless attached to the wall just above the porch.
Looks like you're stretched to reach 28e on the sly dish so 42e would probably be out on the motorized set up.

I would agree with MDT here ideally a scaffold pole through the roof and into the loft by just removing 1 roof tile, if thats not an option then the brickwork on either side of your property has a 1.5 brickspan the smallest T&K 12" has a 10" stand off which should clear the eaves and the guttering only problem is the bolt spacing on the 12" T&K is just over 1 brick span so your touch and go with that one. if the brick is in good order ( Accy Brick No problem ) and solid then a 2 K's and a T with a scaff pole will do it above the roof line or a mdt says a galvanised wall mount again i would say at least 3 to secure the pole.

Ideally if you cannot do the loft through the roof pole mount then rear of property as i would imagine you have brick on the rear and not tiles, or the other suggestion pole mount garden in concrete base.

You cant have an 80cm on a chimney its Planning regs a maximum of 60cm on the chimney, I have done chimney mounts but i normally use a combination of 2 x Welded mitre steel Galvanised 13.5" chimney brackets with lashing kits and i only do 60cm.

thank you for all the suggestions so far.
this is depressing as i really want my set up!
the satellite installer says he works for a company but does work for others when he finishes everyday at 4pm.....hopefully he is experienced enough to assist with this job!

anyway here is a pic of the rear of the property...any ideas here? sorry for sounding like a girl when i said my girlfriend doesnt want it on the back of the house its just she hates the dish, hates football, hates my telly, hates all this crap!!!! damn women.

needs a tidy up , LOL

should be no problem there , just T-K brackets between the 2 bedroom windows and a scaffold pole going above the eaves with the dish sweeping over the rooftiles from left to right ( if your front is southfacing ) , and in any case as long as the lnb misses the rooftiles by a foot or more at its closest point there should be no problems at all, as your rooftiles are the only obstruction here, EDIT , after looking at the sly dish in pic 1 the house front seems to face east so the dish will be pointing to the right looking from the rear , and point down the line of houses for say 19e and over the neighbours garden for most of the other satellites towards 30w , and only come above the rooftiles for 28e , 39e and 42e , the back of the house is therefore a much better place for the motorised dish anyway, not the front as it has a good unobstructed view from 19e through to 30w

so T-K brackets onto the brickwork, scaffold pole and should be fine , and maybe a new g/f seeing as the old one is so stroppy

if your girlfriend insists it goes on the front pierce the porch roof with a scaffold pole through it resting on the ground and secured plumb against the side wall behind the door you can stand on the roof then for all adjustments a simple collar round the pole where it goes through the porch roof will weather proof it.

what about on a pole at the back of the back garden?

Satellite Finder / Dish Pointing Calculator with Google Maps | DishPointer.com have a look at that and tick the show obstacle line of sight checker.

i have my sky dish on an old washing line at back of garden..my back garden aint very long but it clears the roof.

im trying to sort a motorised dish myself...im thinking of bolting a fence post to the shed and fixing to that..
