ordered some dreamboxes from china and had to pay import tax help??

hi i have ordered some dreamboxes from china and was waiting for the parcel to be delivered then i got a phonecall from dhl saying i had to pay 15.00 customs tax duty, before my parcel would be delivered, what does this mean help? and what should i do next time to prevent this cheers.

imports are subject to taxes m8 , so you will have to pay it

cant see the problem myself, as its standard to pay tax on non-eu imports , or imports over certain values

ok kool, iv payed it anyway as this is the first time i have order 10 dreamboxes at a time from china what if i tell them to put a low value on the box? , the last time i orderd a dm800hdse and it was deliverd no problems with no duty tax

they must have put a low value on it already if its only ?15 import tax.. use ems in future if they have that option

Just consider yourself very, very lucky they didn't charge you VAT. And extremely lucky they didn't open up the consignment and charge you more - or confiscate it as being an import scam (did the customs declaration say they were Dreamboxes/PVRs - or some low value items?)

As above mate, your very lucky to get them through. Paying prob ?1500 ish for 10 and you moan about 15quid? hahah. If you order 2 at a time you normally get through with no fee from DHL, anything above that and they get ya.. Id never risk 10 at once..
