    T&K Brackets / U-Bolts & scaffold pole

hi everyone... ive started building my dish / motor etc..

now for the fixing of pole to shed...

im going with the 12 inch T&K brackets... i was going to get an 8 ft
scaffold pole.. the problem is...most brackets come with 1.75" or 2" ubolts... im sure scaffolding is bigger than that...i can get larger ubolts but then they wont fit in the elongated holes on the brackets..

    any pointers

you could always drill another hole in the bracket to suit the new "u bolts"
this is what i had to do as i use a 3" pole for my cm 1.2 dish

Also keep the pole as short as possible or it will flex in any wind

i was thinking about that...as im bolting it to the shed..i thought it might be better to have a longer pole..touching the ground for extra stability? or would you go with 4ft / 5ft and just bolt it on?
i`ll be putting some supports inside the shed to bolt onto

            thanks everyone

cant see a shed being stable enough for this job, not unless you concreted some of the pole into the ground

but I used car exhaust brackets too , as for the T- bracket holes its easy enough to enlarge the slots or holes with a drill or reamer to accomodate any larger size U bolts or clamps

2" Vbolts will be fine i use them all the time on scaffold pole installs they fit perfect.

And as others have said i would not be securing an 8ft scaffold pole to the side of the shed either it needs to be concreted into the floor for added stability.

thanks.. yeah i think the plan now is... 10ft pole...fix loosely with t&k brakets...getting vertical etc...dig a hole under pole...lower pole into 2ft in conrete so it sets in the correct position

Don't listen to the crazy man I have 2 dishes bolted to the side of my shed don't get me wrong it's a big shed but the principles the same. Set up a couple chocks across the struts inside the shed glue and nail them then drill straight through to secure your t&k

OK, I'll re-word that - keep it as short as possible above the top bracket. It doesn't hurt to have more pole between the brackets or even have an extra T in the middle, the concrete base helps too.
