    dish adjust

tried adjusting dish to 1W but not much success. used sat meter to get alignment, followed by minor adjust and watching s/n reading. Can get signal at 7W and 7E but not 1W. Best i got was frequency lock but so channels. Any pointers?

    You got nilesat?
Dont use a satmeter..they pick up all sorts of signals And think they are certain satellite ones..meters are used for fine aligning...
Use the signal meter from your box..

must be a cheapo meter ur using cos if it was a decent one you couldnt fail to find thor in about 10 seconds.my 9 year old daughter can line a dish up using my meter..dont know where u are but in worksop the elevation for 1west is 30degrees.just set your dish to that and swing it round and like sadiq said use your strengh meter on your box and u cant fail to find thor..16east might be slightly tricky without a proper meter though..

Alright terriers how are you doing M8 ?

Ok nario the easy way to find Thor is to take a watch (not a digital one) where Astra 2 points imagine the lnb is faces 12 o clock, Thor is pointing half way between 1 & 2 o clock, adjust the dish in this zone and you will pick it up easly enough.

          eyup alun im good m8
surprised you get any work done with the amount of posts you have on here....this guy must be using 1 of those inline meters which are useless..i am currently using a horizon meter which are absolutely brill, instant lock when you find a sat and easy to use,bit pricey though!!also the lacuna is quite good but a crap battery life.

Unless you have the same meter as terriers has use the meter from your box, then when you have signal use the sat meter to fine tune...
Never installed yet but would love to try!

That has got me confused as well. I just looked at my neighbours Sky dish and thought I need to point my dish about 29 degrees to the right of that dish to get BBC World on Thor 1.0W.

Lol it had to be you who came up with the comical way but this is how we did it...
Sent the motor to 28.2e, disconnected the motor and connected the dish directly to 2 sky box, with the signal screen up, we turned to whole system so the dish was facing the direction of sky then when we got signal we slightly tightened up and connected the motor up again, then we scaned sky and found the channels, then with the signal meter from a installation kit we nudged the motor left and right and adjusted the elevation till we got it all right, then we went to 1 west and fine tuned the system from that (only a small nudge to the right)..that was 15days of wrong technique then one idea to use the sky box as that is trained to pick up sky signals only and we did it that day...
