    Protek MK-1

Is it worth buying 2nd hand MK-1, I heard is not being made/supported anymore due to too many bugs?

the maxx1000 is far from the same box as a protek mk-1 which runs on linux although the maxx1000(protek 9600ip clone) connects to the darkforce server ATM, regards mdt

So mdt, back to my original question.
        MK-1 worth buying or not?
If its not supported by the darkforces anymore, then future could be a problem for this box?

it is supported by the dark forces for the protek server.. but not much support on operating the stb.
you will recieve the same gift channels as all the hd protek boxes do.. but not much support for cams / images,
so if the price was right it would be worth buying just for the gift......BJ1

if the mk1 is around 130 quid go for it, if not leave alone and buy a clone duo and multi sat sub you wont go far wrong with duo

the mk1 runs oscam and will work with sub but in my eyes the menu and set up of the box is not much use and you have to pay extra to get second tuner on mk1

duo all in for 190 will be hard to beat at the moment

the mk-1 is HD and the unixbox is sd, @potrobber i too was disappointed with the MK-1 and IMHO feel that the team behind it made a grave mistake in not allowing it to be fully linux OS instead choosing a bespoke image, they should have done the same as with the unixbox were you could run a proper linux image and just add the id file. all this being said i still feel that for watching tv the MK-1 is still vgvfm as the darkforce server is excellent and wipes the floor with the other "gift" boxs around. regards mdt
