First of all you need to know if your dm500 a clone or not as clones will not load with DM images and this could result in "bricking" your dmb. There are lots of images and you might find some better suited to you than others. I myself prefer gemini project image as I am fairly new to the dreambox myself I find it nice and easy to use. Open PLi also seems a popular one. there are quite a few images posted on here for both genuine and clone boxes. you can always change the image if you find the one you have loaded is not to your liking.
