I currently have a 80cm dish pointing at 4.8e, what's the best satellite to use for a wide choice of football? I'm looking for as much as possible... Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, MLS and any other major leagues.
Best satellite for football?

The best bet nowadays for getting the footy is just to go motorised to help deal with what the EPl are doing with the 3pms & whatever else they've got up their sleeve etc.. so no matter where your team is on you can get to it- some if it free.
otherwise ... atm... another vote for 13e if it has to be fixed.Comment

How much would it cost to get a motor installed on my current dish?Last edited by footyaddict; 1 April, 2012, 17:55.Comment

It's not usually just the cost of the motor at c. ?45, it depends if it needs new brackets too - motorised usually need better brackets anyway to get the most out of them accuracy wise, deal with strong winds & clear walls as the dish moves etc... plus it should see the whole visible arc & loads of satellites rather than just one satellite so might need moving or even going long pole over gutter/ roof etc.. which needs even better brackets & pole to do well or you just end up with a flag pole waving in the wind on aerial brackets- there's a lot like that.
But if it's just a used 80 & most 80s are under 80 so you won't get the weak stuff too well if at all- you could get away with a cheapo motor & less than perfect brackets just to get at several sats just for footy & forget trying to get the full arc for now.. then you could move between a few sats like 1w 4.8e 13e 16e 19.2e etc.. possibly from where it is already.
If you did get a cheapo motor though & later wanted to get a better / bigger dish you might need another motor.
Motor installs do vary drastically from real crap to real pro installs even for the same size dish, like anything else.Comment
