Can you reccomend a good satellite installer around the Coventry area?

    Hi

I need to bring someone in to realign my dish. it's 80cm motorised and on the chimney, I don't fancy trying to get up there.

Can anyone recommend a decent person to do this for me in the Coventry area? I have a DM 800 and can currently get hotbird and a few others but need to it realigning to pick up astra1 and astra2.

Could someone advise how much this should cost.

I have the ladders but need someone to do it for me

    Thanks

Gents - would appreciate a view, do you think the dish needs realigning - previously on old receiver - Globalstar 1100 i could get all sats now with new DM800HD I can't. The dish hasn't moved due to wind or anything - is it down to the new reciver settings?

If so - what do i need to do?

          Thanks

does sound like it- we've not had strong winds for a while [might be some on the way though] & if nothing else has happened I'd check everything else first before you pay out ?76 an hour (nearly double what we charge - must be doing something wrong).

long & lat all inputted OK & not swapped em or flipped W to E or 5.2xxx instead of 52,xxxx or anything [seen em all].

Is the stb OK - any way you can test on another motor & test your motor with another stb? [it's what I'd do 1st anyway]

No obvious loose bricks or bracket on the chimney?

All coax OK .. [should be if it's moving the motor]

What happened to the old stb - did you just swap it or did it die - if it did die that could effect a motor [or it was the motor that fried the stb].

            what image is it..

              Hi Guys

I think i might have the answer - my box kept freezing so the guy i bought it from took it away changed the image and bought it back. The motor on my dish is moving fine and can pick up hotbird and eurobird plus Thor (0.8W). He couldn't understand why it could get astra1 or 2 - he spoke with his mate and he thinks it's because the dreambox is not setup correctly with the technomate motor I have.

Any guidance on what is required to ensure it is setup correctly?

              Thanks in advance

It doesn't matter what box it's set up with as long as the dish is set up correctly. Make sure the pole is 100% plumb. If it's not it wont follow the arc and will miss some sats.

                THE TRUTH
                The Hillsborough Independent Panel. 12/09/12

Today's report is black and white. The Liverpool fans were not the cause of the disaster.
The panel has quite simply found 'no evidence' in support of allegations of 'exceptional levels of drunkenness, ticketlessness or violence among Liverpool fans' and 'no evidence that fans had conspired to arrive late at the stadium' and 'no evidence that they stole from the dead and dying'.

Have you entered your longitude & latitude in the new box .. if not do so..

If the longitude is 0 it might still get the satellites from 1w to so far round but if the latitude is 0 the motor will move too far the further it goes as it thinks it's on the equator so 28e is more like 38e from there.

                  or

The iffy box might [might] have upset the motor - he should have tested it with known reliable box, a 5 minute job [or not their job?].

You could put it on 13e & send it to 28e & watch the motor/ dish to see if it stops too early... [or over shoots]

if you have input your long/lat & if it does stop early .. if you can... send it to reference/0 & reset the motor & delete the limits [but do remember to replace the correct limits if it needs them]

Hi. Have you tried to find ASTRA 1 using 1.2 instead of USALS.?? I would do the following as a test.
                    1) Send dish to HOTBIRD using USALS as you are able to get this satellite.
                    2) Check HOTBIRD is ok. Then switch motor setting from USALS to 1.2 and save the position.
                    3) From motor menu (still using 1.2) select the ASTRA 1 satellite at 19.2 east.
                    4) Using your remote move the dish manually east a few steps at a time . Check for signal quality on a vaild TP.
                    5) If you find a decent quality signal then set motor to OFF. Exit out of the menus and see if you get a picture.
                    6) If you find channels for ASTRA then go back into motor menu and set to 1.2 and either save the position or fine tune further if you need to improve the signal. Remember to save the postion otherwise 1.2 will not memorize it.
                    7) If you find ASTRA 1 thats means that the setting for USALS are out. If you dont find anything your dish needs aligning. You can also use 1.2 to find the other satellites if you wish, this will give you an idea if dish is properly aligned or not. Rememer that 1.2 is a manual search and USALS is automatic search. Regards.

Gents - an update from me on the issues I had and the answers:

                      1. Pink screen and no sound - new HDMO lead required
                      2. Box froze up and green screen - box overheating - bought new fan unit for ?5 and sat box on it which sorted problem
Also changed to OpenPLI image which works well
                      3. Box wouldn't come on - ethernet port lit up but nothing lese. Lead was faulty going into power box - changed this and all good
                      4. Couldn't get other satellites apart from hotbird - litertally just played around with satfinder and tuner and picked up a signal. On the night I tried before it was raining which may not have helped.

Just hoping nothing else goes wrong but so far working well - really happy!!!

Thanks again for your help and I hope these lessons I learnt can help others
