how to make this up

hi looking to make this up {cn1} i have. {cn2} is where i can get my head around whats it {cn2}?

Looks very much like a 3.5mm jackplug as whats used for Mic's and headphones, I am sure someone will be along with a concrete answer

i have tried the headphones i have, it has 3 wires, green blue orange.have joined them to green blue orange on the rs232 cable stiil no joy with it.

You need a multimeter or continuity tester. Just because there are the same coloured wires on the rs232 does not mean they go to the pins you require. Find out (on the jack plug) which wire is connected to tip/centre/rear and do the same with the connectors on the rs232 for the relevant pins then connect them as per the diagram....
