MBC channels now on Eutelsat 7 West A

Don't know if this old news but MBC have put their other fta movie channels etc.. on Eutelsat 7 West A.. [now @ 7.15w] to join MBC Persia.

They are stronger than most, still SD & with an FEC of 3/4.. but they've put them on DVB-S2 which can result in a higher breakup threshold than the other SD channels on DVBS on Eutelsat 7 west A.

The same channels still on Nilesat 102 are lower power into the UK but I'd say are easier to lock.

It should do for you there on a 90- you should be well above threshold on a decent 80, but if you nudge off 7w until it starts to break up, you should find it has a much higher breakup point so the rain margin is a lot less than the dvbs channels.

As you go up through the UK, 26e & 7w reception progressively declines so that threshold will make an increasing difference to reception & rain &/or local noise margins.

JSC Sports HD channels on Eutelsat 7 West A do the same - strong numbers but because they are on DVB-S2 they break up much higher, so do a lot of dvb-s2 channels- you need about a 30% bigger dish to maintain parity on most.
