Guys was talking to a fella the other day about a new sat system out that just entails replacing the sky receptor to give you the max channels available while paying the lower monthly sub. We're both novices so hes only going on what someone else told him and Im just not so sure thats even possible without having some sort of rogue box. Has anyone heard of this theory. Live in Northern Ireland if that makes a difference. Another thing he seems to think this new theory will allow him to watch box office channels as well but I thought those days were gone since the days of filmflex. Cheers

are you sure this is using a sky box and not a cs setup?

Apparrently his cousin has one which cost him ?100 and he contacted him to see if he would be interested and of course he said yes. Hes going to get it installed in the next 2 weeks or so I think so I told him to def keep me updated. He said it is 2 ex sky engineers that are doing it but im still slightly dubious. As for it being card sharing surely non of them are offering free box office channels are they? I just thought id ask on here incase anyone had heard anything Ill keep the post updated when find out more.Comment

it's defo cs mate. they just get the box office stuff on their card and then give it to their clients.
i watched the WWE last night which was box office.....and watched many others as well....

Hmm its some form of card sharing anyway at least I know that much now then. Would the box office access be only on what they order themselves then or a continuous stream of choice from the box office database that you can watch at your disposal?Comment

Will do folks!! Ill question him abit more about it tomorrow to question his cousin. Im all for as simple a form as possible. I used to have the old standard chipped cable boxes with the program cards (fun card) which I was more than happy with but obviously that went to the dogs. Recently pruchased the Kv a780 set up but I find it kind of a harsh set up having to run it from the cable mains to the box to the modem (wires running everywhere) but obviously cant complain too much considering.. If I thought for 1 minute this was a new sat setup id switch over in a heartbeat.

what i say to most people that have things that sound cheap or good is get me one and wait see if it turns up
then you know there is truth behind it when you have it in your hands
i also know 2 fellows that worked for a av company and there out on there own now fitting dishes and cs setups in n ireland maybe the same ones
but as i say you never no so wait to you see whats offered or just ask does it need internet connection instead of phone lineComment
