Afternoon chaps

Got a problem if anyone can help
When I set sky to record by timer it does t work. It if I goto channel and hit record Mini tv goes blue and i cant watch any channel .
then I have to reset my sky box so I can watch tv then I have to press record it will start to record but if I flick back a channel and then back to another channel same thing happens again It works sometimes but not always

Anyone got any idears
