New source to build your satellites.xml files

This is a new site for you to use to build your own custom satellites.xml files. it differs from the traditional sources as it allows you to build your satellites.xml files without the many many inactive transponders that you find on sites such as lyngsat. you can of course choose to keep these transponders in your files but by building a satellites.xml file without those "dead" transponders you will substantially speed up your scans as the box will not need to pause over those "dead" transponders.

give it a go and let us know what you think.

    Code:
    http://satellites-xml.org/

Yip ive used this for a while now and after flashing a new image this is one of the first files i ftp to my dreambox and thats my tuner sorted. after a certain number of downloads from the site you wont be able to download any more unless you donate so save your xml file somewhere safe, i would usually tick all satellites in my motorised range and download that xml file and i can always delete any sats i cant recieve from within the dreambox tuner menu. good post "RuberDuck". ( The site im referring to is a different site than the new site that ruberduck speaks of)

i dont know where you get the idea you need to donate to use this from because you certainly do not. this is a new site developed by huevos to build clean satellite.xml files with only active transponders it was only coded and placed on a test server a couple of weeks ago, so i have no idea what site your talking about.

This is the site i am referring to - satellites.xml generator / transponder .ini generator, This must be a different site than the one you speak of, although this one is good to generate your satellite list which is updated daily too.

The one i posted was developed by Huevos specifically to remove all the dead or inactive transponders from the generated satellites.xml files. This substantially speeds up scan speeds as the receiver does not need to pause over inactive transponders waiting for a response. Try it on 16.0 east and you will see what i mean.

please forgive this latest post but it seems that on a number of other forums people still are not seeing the benefit of using a "clean" satellites.xml file free from dead and inactive transponder entries so i'll explain a little better.

for comparisons sake i generated a standard satellites.xml file for 16.0 east from the usual site.
              Code:
              http://satellites-xml.eu/
This file contains 85 transponder entries.

now i also generated another satellites.xml for the same location from
              Code:
              http://satellites-xml.org/
with the "Only active" option selected. This new file contains only 55 transponders but returns the exact same number of channels from a scan. These extra 30 dead or inactive transponders add a significant amount of time towards the scan time. if you consider this is only one satellite location and you have say 20 or more satellite locations to scan the time difference could easily number in hours.
