    Spiderbox Problem and New Box.

Can anyone recommend another HD box around 80 - 130 pounds that works well with NEWCAMD and CCcam, my parent currently have the spider 7000HD and its a pain with constantly working its way from disconnecting from " cards ".

Is there a fix for the spider doing this? F/W update etc ?

I am after something closed source as its for my parents ( Don't want them messing about ) - I was thinking the Eaglebox 800HD, whats it like, whats the EPG like.. Is it easy to set up ?

And is there any channel lists for 28.2E ?

why does it have to be closed source?? i have a vu+solo clone running vix 2.3 and using c**am 2.14 and its flawless. its set up on a fixed zone1 dish and running coolmans epg with picons and its absolutely rock solid. linux boxs are solid if you dont mess with them and if they are set up correctly... case in point is i had a tm600 on a zone1 in my ex,s house running c**am 2.14 also for 2 years and the box needed rebooting once in that time. as for the spiderbox you wont get a fix for the disconnection problem as it doesnt exist according to the team behind it and the spiderbox fanboys but its the exact reason i sold my 9000hd after 4 months. if your not arsed about epg then i suppose a openbox s9 would do the job and a bargain for the price, regards mdt

most boxes (especially closed source) are now and next epg and are pretty much useless at downloading an epg

the exceptions being the tm5402 or blade bm7000s equivalent which download using openTV (think its that) on one transponder on 28e

apart from the spiderbox I dont think any can export newcamd, whereas almost all will import cccam and newcamd (receive only)

spiderboxes had a recent march 2012 update and the reception side works well in cccam and in newcamd too, although the epg download is poor and often fails

7 day epg is the holy grail that is rarely attained apart from the linux boxes that have plugins to download from the net and seem to work well

it would be great if they all used the same or similar system to the blade/techno models

eagle 800 is incoming only on cccam and on newcamd too, channel lists are a pain, pvr and divx playback is excellent, remote isnt as good as the spiderbox. in fact I find the spiderbox remote to be exceptional amongst remote controls

the eagle is fairly straightforward to setup but has a long way to go in user friendliness and functionality, especially compared to the blade

so if you want a good box that is ok with incoming lines then the blade is as good as they come for a closed source box, easy to setup, good channel lists , good epg

actually I love the spiderbox, despite the rubbish epg d/l , which is at odds in this thread I know

my blade is lent out for the time being

but if I was buying a new box , it would be a vu or the clarke or something similar

              hi setfire

as ramjet has said and i think you already know another blade is the best way forward here you know how they work as you have one or buy the duo clone and give them your blade

i think there hard to beat for the older and also younger generation with the online channel update and 7 day epg and simple to use controller there is not much to come close

mdt has good point also with solo clone is another cracking box but for the older generation the channel sorting after something moving transponder can be a little
              more hassle than they want

I would have said a TM5402 as its rock solid on any firmware loaded using either CCcam or Newcamd, I do like the look of the blade but have come across 2 people so far who have had problems which related to the march firmware on this machine and further research shows it's wide spread.

But it beats the 5402 for looks and its ability to download channel lists, The Clone solo should fair well and with any image should give you everything the blade does and more

there are 2 blades in the family and both are on jan 2012 software and running sweet (one did try the march update but soon reverted back)

but the vu range would be top of my hit list if I was buying another box, only constrained by budget as to which one I would obtain

I think personal you'd be better of getter the protek 9760 hd less trouble
