HD Recording & Vu Duo Queries

I myself would just stick a 1tb drive in but a guy is not looking to spend much, ?20 or so. How much space does hd recording consume. He is looking to put a 120gb drive in a dm800hd. Say he was to record a sky sports football match in hd, 2 hours say, how many gigs would that consume and what does that compare to standard definition.

Having just set up a vu+ duo i noticed there is channels, sky sports for pubs. I thought there would be a pint symbol but none there and a live football match was on. How do you get the pint symbol...

Still searching for a epg for the duo, may have to settle with crossepg, doesnt look that good, is there a better one about...?

i would imagine the pint glass would come from sky to show its not a residential package for the pub .your epg should give 7 days if set up correctly.

I think its approx 8gb per hour of HD content and 3gb per hour SD.

There is a few streams for skysports, Pub Irish and British.

I only ever noticed it on my espn

        Crossepg works great for me.

I have installed it on BH 1.6.6 for the duo and works well.

Going to put PLI image on another one, but it works ok with pli on the 800.

Out of all the HD recordings i have done i have yet to see anything over 2.5 hours pass 8GB in size, The MPEG4 encoders sky use now are pretty efficient and also factor in that there is around 4-6 HD channels sharing the same transponder so they have to be.

The above findings were took from a sky site on a sky box.

I just checked mine and for 1 hour on disney cinematic was 4gb

But on SSP2HD from 12:00pm till 13:30 was 14gb so thats roughly the same.

4 to 5 gb per hour.

Dm800 on pli jade 2.1 beta

I can only base mine on the last 2 movies i recorded one was length approx 1:36mins size 5.41gb and the other was 2:05mins and that was 7.25gb

Not all channels will be exactly the same as each other, I do agree with you to be on the safe side allow for approx 4gb per hour of HD recording.
