    S/C/T Tuner

I read a dvb-s2 tuner can scan teresterial as long as the wifi plugin is installed, you add dvb-t uk (for example as a different transponder).

So what is the difference between a sat and cable tuner, apart for the adaptor one the end?

is it possible to scan cable also? if not has anyone seen the s/c/t tuners for sale anywhere as a separate part?

    personally I dont believe it

some boxes have removable tuners and I have always known that you buy and fit a different tuner for each option on those boxes , like the dm800 or dm8000

the new vu ultimo can have more than one tuner and have different types inside

I do not believe you can use a plugin , and no you cannot use a sat box on cable or freeview , not without the correct tuner installed

    thats my view anyway

Ramjet is correct no matter what plugin you install you cannot scan terrestrial frequency on a DVB-S2 tuner its completely different and they all scan at different frequency range for DVB-T/2 & DVB-C/2

As already mentioned, the sat tuners use a very different frequency range so will alway be incopatible with t & c tuners. The t & c tuners, however, can be combined into a single device. An example of such a tuner would be the KV 790 box used in Ireland. This has a tuner that will connect either to dvb-t or dvb-c based systems. Many tv's also have 'cable ready' multi-mode tuners.

yep , my sony tv has a tuner inside that is for both T and C , and in the setup you are asked which system you wish to scan on and use
