    Swap a 500cs for a tm-9100?

Iv been offered to swap my open media 500cs for a technomate tm-9100.

Any one recon its a good or bad idea. Iv been looking up th 9100 and they seem to do every thing a 500 will plus a hdd option and ci slot.

But will i still get all the plugins etc on the 9100 as iv read i cant use exactly the same images as my 500 it has to be the UR-18 image.

The TM-9100 is a linux box the same as the Open Media but it uses different images and plugins. There is far more support for the open media (basically a dreambox dm500) than there is for the tm9100. Yes it has a hdd option and you can pause live tv, timeshift, etc. and that's a good option if you're looking for that sort of thing. There is also a TM-9100 and a TM-9100 Super; if it's the older version when it can be unstable and reboot for no reason. If you're not bothered about the hard disk option on CI slot, keep the OM, but if you want those things, swap it.

Ryan, just wait a day.. Krazylegz a mod on here has experience on both a dm500s and a 9100 like devilfish but he sold his Technomate..you can ask him for the ups and downs..

Thats great thanks. Yeah it the super.

Is there much difference in the images and plugins.

I do like that it has the ci slot plus hdd slot just so in the future if i decide on a cam or hdd i wouldnt have to change receiver but they are pointless if the images/plugins are no good and if the basic things dont work as well.

Also iv read that the tuner in the 9100 is better as well. Not sure if its true?

I would much rather a dm 7020 as it has the same spec but cant get one anywhere.

With emu days looking dark in the near future i would take the swap if your not interested in cardsharing as a cam may become a must have soon once digitv switch over...
