    Aligning Dish Problems

Hi my location is the north east of engand and have a 1 metre gibertini dish with a inverto ultra lnb which ive been told is a very good setup anyway ive had alignment problems with the dish so had a satellite engineer round on friday for alligning dish and new wf100 cabling instead of rg6 cable thinking it was the cable- the problem was i had it set on diseqc and my usals settings where out which he put right so no problem there but still getting some low signals on 5 east on the vertical channels and breaking up when raining and i know some of the viasat have always been weak on this satellite but been on the north east coast i thought i would have no problems.
Also very weak signals on 26 east and breaking up when raining and worst of all since the engineer aligned dish im getting signals between 40%-50% on 30 west which i know i should be getting between 80%-90% and quite low signals on some west satellites with all east satellites ok barring 5 east-sorry to go on but noticed dish is more tilted downwards than previous and i know you will say get the engineer back out pronto but the dish is easily accessible by me by stepladder and im itching to have ago but never done this before so not sure.
One more thing the engineer also said it was hard to get a good signal on 26 east and balance it out to get all other satellites at the same time with good signals.(I have the lnb skewed for maximum signal and done the up/down method for also maximum signal).

    Simple answer
Get him back, he sounds like a cowboy to me.
Get it put right or ask for money back.
Threaten to clamp his horse if he doesn't

do it your self mate then you know its done properly but lnb skew should be on zero for motorised dishes. try the guide in the stickies or this one its for std technomates but the principal is the same for all boxes.as the dish is basically set it just needs checking on your target sat and if you only alter 1 thing at a time you wont get lost.

Yes thanks for that as would rather try myself but feeling as though I'm letting the sat engineer off lightly anyway for the record I have a dreambox 800 hd pro but still confused over the sat engineer saying 26 east was a problem to get at the same time as all other satellites on the arc with him saying you have to make some adjustments with dish etc and could anyone confirm that they get a good signal on 26 east in the north east of england with all other satellites tracking the arc correctly

Hi. If you are getting low signals on west satellites its probably because your dish height is too low. If i were you i would try the following:
          1) If using USALS send it to a satellite on the east where you get strong signals ie HOTBIRD, FREESAT. Make sure pictures are ok.
          2) Send dish to 1 west or 5 west. Make sure you have the following channels: 1 west - BBC WORLD NEWS 11861H s/r 28000. 5 west - TMC 11553V s/r 29500. These two channels are FTA so you should see a picture come up.! If no pictures or signals move dish slightly up on motor tail. When you get strong picture/signal try the other west satellites. You may need to adjust dish angles, LNB skew.
          3) When you are happy with the west sats go back to east satellites and check again. You may need to adjust several times until it falls into place. Take it from me you need a lot of patience but dont give up. Regards.

Take Manic01's advice and get the Guy back to sort it out correctly, in your location you should be getting a good signal on all sats available including the weaker 26? east and most of 7? west.

Just to add dont expect miracles with your receiver your using especially if its a clone, Tuner sensitivity can be a bit suspect on the clone variations

Thanks for all the advice guys, again I've got to say if I did get the sat guy back out obviously he can get 30 west and other west satellites back with stronger signals no problem - that's his job but him and other sat engineers in the past keep saying its hard to get 26 east and good signal at the same time as all the other satellites with them saying you can either have a stronger signal on 26 east but I'll adjust accordingly where all other satellites will come in with weaker signals or vice versa and that's where I'm getting confused and I just don't believe them but that's the answer I keep getting so I give up and also I no the dreambox clone does not have the best sensitivity but have a old technomate 5400 sd box or spiderbox 9000 hd box with better tuner sensitivity I could try.

If he adjusts for 26? east and 7? west and trys to get the best signal he can on those 2 sats then you should only lose a few DB signal on the Stronger sats.

the technomate 5400 will give a stronger reading on the weaker sats due to it having a better sensitive tuner, Best thing to do is dont let him leave until your happy.

you can receive these 2 channels/transponders and your dish be still a fair bit out as they are both very strong and recievable with a 60cm dish... imo your always better using the weaker channels on half a dozen slots across the arc so you know that your dish is tracking 100% and getting every last possible drop of signal it can in your location with your own perticular location/stb/dish/lnb, regards mdt
