    Satellite dish positioning help

Rite iv ordered my motorised 95cm system and went with the superdark motor and swapped my 500 for a tm-9100. Should come early next week but now i have a dilemma.

My house is a mid terraced 3 story house and if im looking into the back garden that is East. (Next doors sky dishes are on the back wall pointing slightly to the right) So west is the front of the house.

Where will i need to fix my dish? Will it have to be on a pole looking over the roof? The only thing is that because it is a 3 story the roof is on a steep slope and goes quite high. Can it still be done ?

If thats the only way to do it can anyone recommend the correct bracket/size and pole/fittings etc and where i could get them.

    Thanks alot

im guessing your dish would have to be a couple of foot above the gutter line.
so the motor and dish can swing west and still get a signal without the ridge line causing problems
t&k brackets and a pole,i think there are different sizes depending on the over hang of the slates or tiles and the gutter from the wall
the biggest challenge is balancincing on a triple extention ladder that high
    dm800-s=1.1 m triax motorised dish=titanium twin lnb

I would be tempted to put the dish just above the second storey for ease of install...........
with what your telling us,,,sky dishes slightly to the right on rear wall,,,
you will be able to get everything of interest to the east to about 42e and you will probably get as far as 8west...defo 1west...........................................
theres not much worth watching further than 8west unless your spanish or portuguess...............
if you go above gutter your gonna have probs at 3 storeys...

Tell me about it. With the roof being very high pitched will it still get a signal as it wont be pointing over the ridge.

Also what about attaching it to a six foot fence post at the bottom of the garden?

yeah the sky dish next door is not pointing directly in a straight line forward just off to the right a bit. So if wests at the front of the house will i still get thor if i just fit it on a normal bracket 2 storys up.

Im a mid terraced but there only 1 house either side of me.

not sure if that makes a difference.

          cheers

you will easy get thor m8 if sky dishes just to right.......and i would use a 2 inch wall/mounting bracket....
if u were adamant u wanted to go further west then u could get a 6ft piece of scaffold pole and sink in 2ft of postcrete at bottom of garden an mount dish on that....

what other sats are further past thor that are good with english channels. (including the ones by using cs) Would i be missing anything good?

What are the main sats for english channels ie music, footie, movies etc and what positions are they on?

Also is the fence mounting idea no good as the post are 8ft with 2ft in concrete.

              thanx

If you decide to plant it in your garden you will need to make the pole very sturdy..
There is nothing worth while after 5west unless your multi lingul or interested in feeds for events..
A few years back sport tv use to be open on 30west which was good for the FOOTY..

so just putting it on the rear wall 2 storys high should be ok to get me all the top sats what are any good?

How far west do you think it will turn?

The bracket that comes with it is a normal 550mm l shaped bracket measures 550x250x50 will this be ok or should i upgrade to a 24" T&K?

                  cheers

We have the worst type of mount on our dish but it does work well but my uncle who installs in a small area of london always uses l shaped brackets as they are the easiest to make vertical all way round..

If the front of your house is west then you cant install your dish at the back..that means the dish will have to look over the roof.
Can you just draw a simple diagram on paint..just a box to show your house, label front and back and show up the exact direction sky dishes point wiv a arrow this will give me a better idea..

the only 2 sats of real interest to us english speakers at the moment are 16e digitalb and 1west digi tv,,,,both have lots of movies,~~~~,documentarys, and more importantly nearly all premiership matches, championship,fa cup, uefa cup, champions league, etc,,,the lower league matches mainly have foreign audio but prem mainly in eng......out of the 2 digitalb on 16e is best with great movie chanels all in english and better than what sly has to offer, its a cracking package!!!!
so with what u have told us you will get these on rear wall,,1west not that far from sly,,and 16e inbetween.....

looking at that you will get all going east and you should be ok for thor too....just buy a 24in t/k bracket to bring it as far out as poss and maybe you might get to 8w....use a pole thats 2in in diameter so its nice and sturdy......
