    ATA Hard Drive for Duo

I took a hard drive from an old sky plus box thinking it would be compatible with the duo. Unfortunately the drive is ata and I need a sata.

Is there any converter cable you can get for an ata drive to make it SATA....

As far as I know you can't just get ribbon cable it would have to be powered also. Stick to your original plan a sata as you will have less problems.
You could try above also as this was posted while I typed.

you need to look for sky boxs made by thomson or pace i find have sata drives fitted

i just removed a 500 gb sata from one today and have a 300 one to take out of thomson box when i need it

you are better looking for sky box with 250 gb hard drive fitted this will be a 500 gb and work great in duo

It was a thompson I removed the 160 from. Guy said his wife is the only one who would record and just a small hdd would do.

160gb should do at least 20 hours of hd recording, if he wants to upgrade later then wont be a problem.

Hds are real cheap at the minute. Picked up a 160 for ?15...
