Technomate 5402 vs Blade 7000s HD vs DM800se

    Hi All,

I need help in choosing a box!

I know that these boxes get discussed daily but wanted to create a new posts with my requirements!

First of all, not fussed about how complicated a box is since I work in IT so patching etc is 2nd nature to me.

I'm stuck in choosing between the 3 boxes mentioned in the title and have some questions:

    1. What are the main advantages of the dm800se over the other two?

    2. I know that the BLADE7000s doesn't have an RF out like the TM5402, but if I had an LNB with 2 outlets, is this just the same anyway?

    3. Is the picture quality on the 800se clone the same as the other two or not as good?

    4. Where can I buy an 800se clone from, and since its a clone, do they come with any type of warranty?

I have been looking at the following website for sat receivers, since it's local to me and can pickup, so if anyone can recommend any other boxes on the website that are good and around the 150 mark, I would appreciate it!

    HD Satellite Receivers

    Cheers

    1: playaboutability
2: no. rf out is for hooking box up to tv.. lnbs are for sat signal
3: all much of a muchness.
4: depends where you buy from, but generally, very little goes wrong with 800's that cant be fixed with a simple re-flash.

have heard good things about the icecrypt
    Fave replies from various threads

1: What the fff is all that about??? All that crap below your reply I mean, get a life mate
2: no info on google abt the pace sv5 rang asda they have no idea what i was talking about,
3: Your total contribution to this forum, bordering on trolling, seems to have been a collection of snipes, one liners & asterisked expletives

      Thanks Shady.

      2. sorry got that confused, so no RF out means I can only have it on one TV, right?

3/4. Think I'd rather get a box (non clone) rather than risk it with the DM. Don't really see the point in messing about with it after having all the channels setup.. Just want HotBird, Astra 28.2 and Astra 19.2 in HD..

Can the Icecrypt do all of the above Shady? Another requirement of mine is I need a good EPG and be able to record 1 channel whilst watching another if poss!

Great forum this boys thanks for the fast replies!

none of these boxes will allow you to watch a channel and record another unless its on the same transponder. you would need a twin tuner to do that.

ive heard good things about the icecrypt, i dont know much about it tbh..,
no rf means one tv unless you use video sender.

dont be put off by clones, you'll find that 99% of people on here use clones and have done for many years with the majority of problems fixable by yourself with no need for warranty return, i myself have a 500s clone that is 4 yrs old and still going strong

Just to throw something else into the mix, I'm now seeing stuff about the CryptoBox 400HD, can this record and does it support HDD's internal/exernal?

Neldog I am waiting on a cryptobox to be delivered, you will only be able to record a channel to an external hdd from the same transponder as the channel you are watching.

if you want a simple to operate box with a fantastic tuner then a tm5402hd will do what you want but if you want a customisable linux box with excellent third party support then choose the dm800hdse... i cant really comment on the blade as i dont know to much about them and im not really a fan from what i saw. for watching tv and tinkering then id go with a dm800 but for feedhunting, softcams and weak sats then a tm5402hd would be my choice... it really depends on what type of person you are, im spend most of my time messing about rather than actually whatching tv but when i do i like a massive choice of channels to choose from! regards mdt

                Cheers mdt.

Can the TM5402 hold an internal HDD?

I think I've decided to get a DM800HD Pro or a DM800SE, can anyone tell me the difference and a decent supplier?

Does the DM800HD Pro and the SE have good EPG's?

                Thanks

the tm5402hd can only use a external hdd via usb... the dm800se has more ram, larger/faster cpu colour oled dispay and its a better built box quality wise. you can run cross epg with coolmans epg which downloads overnight onto hdd/usb stick overnight once set up correctly and is very good.. as for supplier then any PRC supplier or a uk one for easier warrenty if needed but you will pay a premium for this. try yoaxcin or nextbay or ali-xpress for PRC suppliers but when buying a clone there is always a very slight chance of a faulty/problem box than can be expensive to rectifie although its 99% that it will be fine. regards mdt
