hi
i got the above box latley....
when i hook it up i see a "updating system software..."
screen endlessly......
i guess it is looking for the satellite to get firmware from it.
the thing is that im in israel. thats y it cannot get the feed.
is there any way to install the firmware not via sat...
maybe via my computer....( it has usb,ethernet connection)...
and if it is posissible, where can i find the firmware so i can use it as fta.

Yes u can
if u can acess the menu go to advance settings in setup under the active menu(press active on remote or tv guide on the unit arrow to active menu then settings)

When in advance settings press the following code(0611) making sure to have the picture settings highlighted only not selected.

this takes u to the techinical setup page where you change your modem settings to access the usb or rs232 port.

download from the internet the firmware tds850nf.6.1 or other for your model consult user manual.

the satellite is located at true north 45 degrees in the southern hemisphere over AUSTRALIA.
LNB high band LO 10.70GHZ

U can try to connect via the ethernet port if you have
a PC on the net and it will look for it itself.

For the tds850nf u can use the following methord with a sat connection.
press select and back bottons simitinueosly

then when the lights come on quickly do...
press one at a time in order [power button][up arrow][down arrow][power button]
