    Advice required

    Hi All,
I am completely new to this and have read loads of threads, but could do with some re-assurance and advise on a few things.

I'm looking at getting a Spider HD box, now would that be best with a motorised sat dish?
Also, i take it these need a "gift" to work?

I have been looking on eBay to obtain the box and dish etc, is there a seller that any one could recommend?

Any help appreciated! It's a fair amount to take in and i don't want to end up messing things up.

if your thinking of a gift box then go with a protek as there is no time limit on the free gift... look at say a td88 or 1m orbital with a tm2600/darkmotor motor and a inverto black ultra lnb. although these components will cost you a little more in the beginning you will be better off, any questions just ask, regards mdt

if the spiderbox is new then the "gift" should work for a minimum period of 12 months, after that you are on your own and will have to get your own "gift" elsewhere

a second hand box is unlikely to have the "gift" on it, as it will probably have expired which will be why its for sale

I would suggest a dish of between 80cm and 110cm, an inverto ultrablack lnb and a dark motor superior or supreme

I can vouch for the above as its what I use myself

the gift channels have been published on here in another thread so look that up to see what it opens, and dont assume any gift will open channels on 28.2 east as they dont and never will either

if you want those or other similar channels then cs is the only way for you to go, with any box that supports it including the spiderbox, but we dont talk about cs on here so dont ask about it, just google it instead

I believe the protek also has a gift as mentioned in the previous reply

no other boxes have this to my knowledge so require you to sort your own "gift" out, which means using cs

I would also second what MDT has said the protek are maybe a little dearer than the spiderbox range but the reliability for the 'Gift' speaks for itself far better than the spiderbox.

as for the you know what the protek range support oscam and newcamd so adding extra's to it if needed can be done this way.

I would also suggest the DCC is only normally used on dreamboxes or linux based boxes like the vu, possibly other similar ones too where ftp programs can be used

it is not normal to use it on bespoke firmware boxes and neither are ftp programs either, so unless the box uses some sort of open source linux then I would tend to say NO, dcc cannot be used, especially not on spiderboxes or on protek boxes or on similar products

well, after a lot of hunting around, and some haggling i have ended up with:

                  SpiderBox 9000 HD
80cm Dark Grey High Gain Soild Satellite Dish
                  Superior Dark Metal Gear Motor
                  Smart Single Titanium LNB

All this should arrive tomorrow so expect some questions from me tomorrow evening after its all gone wrong

seems good enough to get you started

you havent said anything about a wall mount but ideally use T-K brackets and a small piece of scaffold pole

I would stick your own postcode into dishpointer, find your house and try sticking the dish on various south facing walls and check you can get from 42 east to 30 west passing through due south ( thor on 0.8 west ) and ensure you have no obstructions to block the signals
