TV out of sync with sound

Hi all, now i know nothing about TV's really... i know about engines!

I have bought a Tiny 46in TV with external speakers, however the sound is out of sync with the picture by about 1sec which is very annoying. i'm running it though freeview in UK, is this likely to be a freeview box problem? or a TV problem?
    Any ideas anyone?

    Thanks in advance

well it is unlikely to be the freeview signal otherwise many complaints would go to the providers

my freeview service is working fine so I would think so would other members too

not sure why you posted in the satellite section as it doesnt deal with freeview

I would plug an external freeview stb (set top box) into the tv and see if that is ok for a comparison test, if it is ok then its a tuner fault or similar inside this tv you bought and would require a tv engineer to look at it

I have come across the dreaded lip sync problem myself before, and normally i have seen it happen in cheaper branded tv's. Whats happening is the TV cannot produce a picture in the same time it takes to produce a sound, as the data the TV needs for a picture is far greater than the data for a sound. Older LCd TV's are terrible for this issue and all you can do is replace the TV or use a external amplifier with millisecond delay feature on it. There are also some lip sync delay gadgets available to solve the issue. To try and make you feel better, my friend has a home cinema system worth thousands of pounds and he had the same problem until he invested in a new Amplifier that delayed the audio from his Blue ray player to the speakers etc.

Thats an old tv, and probably the root cause of the issue.
