Nope, the neighbours had one and i thought that it would be the same. But actually having a look the edge of there house just passes the trees.
Probably jumped the gun on this and thought i could make it work. I guess you live and learn.

I was worried when I saw the trees in the picture in post #1 which was why I mentioned obstructions last night

pity you didnt post that dishpointer pic earlier as its clear the trees are in the way

you can try satellites like say 12.5w or 15w or 30w, just select one in my channel list, got to an fta channel like 1 or 2 in each list, and try aligning on one of those as it seems clearer on your western side , then try coming back down the sat list from say 30w, 22w , 15w , 12w , 8w , 5w back towards 0.8w thor

8w has a good strong feed called ishtar which is ch 1 in that list

12.5w has fox tv on ch 3

15w has mac tv on ch 1 and bbc persian on ch 2

22w has the huntington beach feeds on ch 1 and ch 2

24.5w has nta on ch 1

30w has al jazeerah on ch 1 and euronews on ch 2

once you can step through them you can see how far east you get before tree blockages

I assume these trees are not in your garden ?

Hi. dont give up, you can still get signals coming through the gaps in the branches. I have installed motors with trees in the way a few times and worked. It can be tricky but can be done.

                Regards

and what happens when the tree grows bigger in a year or two... or a storm starts blowing it around... or you install it in winter when theres no leaves and come spring its loaded with trees

I did say it can be tricky but NOT impossible. I suppose if you lived in a forest you may have problems. Depends also which way the wind blows..... The people i have installed motors have never had any problems so you need to look at individual cases rather than general . I dont think you are thick though , you are just trying to be helpful like everyone else.

                    Take care

You have 2 options available to you 1. is to put it on the fornt of the property T&K's + scaff pole overlooking the roof this will give you the required clearance from the trees at the rear of the property. 2. depending on the height of the trees then the Gable end apex point again same install on scaff pole as long as the tree height has not gone above roof level.

if your going to do the install then do it right first time so it lasts years and not something where you need to be finding gaps in tree branches so you get a good signal, i have heard it all now.

there is the other option of getting a couple of metres lopped off those trees

after all - if you remove or trim an obstruction, its no longer an obstruction !
