    Satellite serving UK moved

A satellite that is currently serving the UK is to be moved where is can operate services for central and eastern Europe.

The Astra 2C satellite is currently in an orbit located at 28.2 degrees.

This is the position for providing a service to the UK, but Astra are planning to move this to 31.5 degrees where it can replace the non functioning Astra 5A satellite.

The 2C is used by Sky TV, but these satellite TV services will be distributed to other satellites that serve the 28.2 service without any interruption to service.

The satellite?s move is only temporary until the launch of the Astra 3B satellite in the last quarter of the year.

Once operational the 2C satellite will be moved back to its original position.
