    really struggling

    i have just installed a technomate tm2600 and a 97 cm technomate dish with a blade bm7000s receiver. My lattitude and longitude is 55.9360182 N , 4.744942300000048 W.

I am picking a signal up of 85% and quality of 25%. I cant seem to get the quality any higher and I have been trying to find thor 0.8w for hours.

When the dish is turning it looks squint but not sure if thats the way its meant to be or not. I have checked the mounting pole on the bracket and its level. What should my elevation be on the motor and the dish incase I have that wrong, also how far up the motor mount should i secure the dish or does that not make a difference. I have not touched the lnb to scew it any way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as i am at the end of my tether

    Put at approx 25 degrees.
When dish turns on motor it will look offset.
Are you following correct set up guides and not just attaching motor and hoping.

assuming your pole is plumb (not level but actually plumb) , and assuming you can actually "see" thor from your location (no buildings or trees in the way), set your motor on the exact latitude and try the dish at about what manic said , with the motor halfway up the pole mount and the dish assembly about halfway up the motor mount , with the lnb cable pointing straight down, the blade needs to be set on your usals position and bbc world news on thor at 0.8w

the dish will be almost perpendicular on the face (straight when viewed from the lnb end), or side on

once you have the motor set to where it should be using usals to send it there from the box, dont alter that position

then adjust the dish and motor together left/right, with slight movement of the dish mounting until you get bbc world news

do not alter the motor elevation at all at this point, and bear in mind you should be looking almost due south

if you are actually 4 west in the uk then maybe try for 5w and not 0.8w as 5w is almost due south of you or zero on the motor mount

tmc on 11554V 29950 is excellent signal and quality as is france 2 on 11591V 20000, both are free to air and easy to pick up in the north

yes, dish at about 25 (mine is about 27 but I am south of you), motor should be on 56 degrees (your latitude) and if you are somewhere around glasgow-ish then you are about 4.8 west so 5 west will put your motor around zero when you input the usals

then try for the 2 channels I mentioned on atlantic bird at 5 west , or go for thor on 0.8w and music channel on 11900H 28000 as its loud and clear and free to air here as is 11862H 28000 for bbc world news

its not easy if using premade channel lists with the channels missing, but you could possibly try adding it and use the transponder

alternatively, setup on a known sat and channel in your premade list , even if its bbc1 on 28e on 10802H 22000

if you are setting up on thor and havent got bbc world news in your list, exactly which thor channel are you setting up on ?

i have adjusted the dish and motor to the correct setting. I have put my 5 west into usals, do i put it on that music channel and mess about with the dish till i get a picture?

it says 98% at the bottom of the music channel screen

you are looking for good signal and good quality so if that channel is in your premade list then yes leave it on that channel until you get it, do not alter the blade and view on a portable tv, you will see and hear it when you get onto it

I am using a spider and get 76% signal and 94% quality

bear in mind that you only need to make very small ajustments as millimeters here on earth equates to miles at 36000k up in space. just be patient and you will get there. regards mdt

had a decent signal but the motor seems to be overshooting thor slightly each time when i am doing a channel scan.

well your location is 4.8w but you said you entered 5w (I was referring to 5 west the actual satellite, not 5w usals)

what you need to do is set the blade on 4.8w in usals, and 56N too

then send it to thor at 0.8w and get on that music channel by manually moving the dish left and right until you peak the signal

then lock that up and move the dish up and down until again you peak the signal

then you can scan if you wish to

ps:- you were told not to alter the blade channel until you achieve the above
