law on showing premier league games

hi all, my local service mens club is almost on its knees and ready to shut down,it used to be the centre of the comunity in my area but looks like its going the way of many other pubs, its a shame to see the place falling to bits.i was thinking of setting them up with a sat system so they could try to entice some people back into the club,i have said i will donate all the equipment and get them up and running for 12 months (if the place is still open)the manager is a bit weary of this and said its illeagal but ive heard that if you cover the prem logo and dont have the intro music on its ok to show the match, can anyone tell me is there away around this or is it just a none starter to begin with?? thanks nic

I would just go straight ahead and set it up.
Theres so much todo about it at the moment and the courts seem to be throwing many cases out.
    If worried zoom pic out.
Most pubs I know are using as usual.

My local has Sky Italia, JSC & Viasat boxes. Although it did make me laugh that he didn't get Nova because 'its illegal'.

It is not illegal to have SKY ITALIA, JSC etc in this country. There are official cards in the UK available. You have to distuingish between official cards and pirate cards. In London many clubs etc have official cards - no problem. Remember the pub lady who won her case - she had an official NOVA card .

        Regards.

That could probably make it worse not only are you showing copyrighted material in a Public place without consent but also obtaining it illegally , Keys with Diema Novasport and its just still about going PLTV would be still dicey but these do not need ethernet functionality to work and Keys are freely available over the web.

The safest one but just one level down from dicey is to try GRTS on 7? east shown free to air and on the odd occasion shows a 3pm game free of charge, or find a feed on the day of the sporting event you want to watch.

Whichever way you look at it, Its still dicey but as manic01 states Pubs/Clubs are still doing it, I would have thought a members closed club would be a tad safer as you cant just walk in off the street so no Sly Spys to worry about just the regulars.

Manic i think you are loopy. What has JSC got to do with SKY??? And which domestic cards are you on about as SKY ITALIA cards are totally different to SKy UK anyway. NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS . Like i said these cards have been legally available in the UK for many years .

                      Take care.

As iain66 has so rightly pointed out these subscription cards which ever they maybe Jsc,Sly Italia/Germany, SatBG etc... are for domestic and private home use only and are not to be used on commercial premises or any public broadcast venue.

That's what Manic is getting at.

It is illegal (i am led to believe) to show that logo during public viewing

                            theres a reason for it

Read the Rules here; they apply to Everyone.

That is what I was trying to get at. All the cards are perfectly legal for private domestic use. They are not legal if you are showing in public places such as clubs, pubs etc.

Well that is to the best of my knowledge..
