    Choices

    Hello all, here goes:

I would like the most straightforward/reliable option to watch football with my lad.

I have sky but don't want to pay the extra money for the sport as he doesn't understand why his favourite teams are not on every week!

Do I look at the openbox route or a motorised dish and receiver?

    Cheers

dont know about STRAIGHTFORWARD or RELIABLE but either method would give extra viewing choices, motorised being the best option as it maximises the viewing choice

but you will have to pay, no doubt about it , even cs costs with these people who charge for it so dont expect football for nothing

it can be had with a HD receiver from 10e and 39e using keys, and sometimes from 7e, but usually its pay per view so you pay

the top teams get more coverage too, so depends on the team or teams you support as to if its on or not

Gotta agree with Ramjet here unless you support one of the top 5/6 teams you wont be watching them at all.

The likes of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, City will always get shown any of the others and you have pretty much had it unless they are playing one of those teams or vice versa those teams are not playing at 3pm.

      Regards

Thanks Ramjet, it was a lot easier when I had a season ticket!

Motorised seems to be the better option, only problem is my wife is not keen on a 1m dish!

PPV is fine with me if it is reliable. It's a shame sky went away from letting you pay per game.

even if they let you pay per game they dont show 3pm saturday kickoffs and havent done for 20 years since the moratorium started (the closed time slot on a saturday)

this is one reason the sat hobbyist looks for them on other satellites, or on setanta

even a season ticket only lets you see home games and maybe some away games if you travel

there is no way a cs pay jobby is reliable, it could fold 10 minutes after they get your cash as can be seen with the starview fiascos over the last couple of years

its always a gamble, unless you sub to other providers like sly italia or nova on 13e or tring on 16e or sat-BG on 23.5e

so straightforward it isnt, but thats half the fun

You dont have to go 1m with the motorised a Good 80cm will get you a large ARC and all of the powerful birds that are on it especially where the footy is concerned main ones: 39?e, 28.2? e, 23.5?e, 19.2?e, 16?e, 13?e, 10?e, 9?e, 4.8?e (Europe beam) 0.8?w, 30?w

You will find plenty of football on those sats without a doubt, Also dependant on Dish, LNB, Reciever and alignment you can also pick up the Nordic beams on 4.8?e, 0.8?w, and maybe 7?e.

God Ramjet am I that old (20 years ago)

Then again I did have a bobble hat, scarf and rattle!

I am not happy about the cs element, I think satellite is the way to go at least I am in control (well more than with cs)

Now I just have to work out what is the "best" equipment to buy.

                Cheers

get a new spiderbox 7000 HD or 9000 HD, darkmotor and triax dish with inverto ultrablack lnb, mounted on T-K brackets with scaffold pole, connect the spiderbox to the motor and your broadband router and for 12 months or more you should get something useful
