Italian Sky+ boxes

Hi I'm British but living in Italy (Milan) at the moment. I get UK Sky, and have done for last 4+ yrs by having a GIANT dish on my roof!!! My Sky+ box has just given up and died on me. I'm not returning to UK for a few months and was wondering if I go today to a store in Italy, buy a new Sky+ box, plug it in will it work with my dish etc to pick up UK Sky? I know I'd need to contact Sky to activate my viewing card (But another problem is I don't want them to know I'm in Italy & picking up UK Sky as I've been told they'll shut my account down!!) - anyone know if I'm going to cause myself problems or are the boxes sold in Italy just the same as boxes sold in UK - I have a feeling they won't be?! different satellites for a start, could be the same boxes for all I know

ideally you need to get a working sly HD plus box back in the uk from gumtree or from flea bay and have "them" marry (pair) your uk card to it and then take it back out with you. I wouldnt try to do this in italy however

but in the meantime you could get a spiderbox or a dreambox or a vu and put your card in it (after patching etc) and let the box do the card updating for you and show your paid for channels too

the spiderbox 9000 or 7000 will be the simplest method for doing this until you can get a sly HD box back here and get the card paired, the vu or dream are more complicated but will do the job

good advice there from Ramjet....a new sky box is easier to pair card, when phone line in...or it requires a call to sky and passing of info etc to sky...second hand box more difficult to do. Best getting a sat box like already mentioned

As always good advice from ramjet but just to clarify you cannot use a Sky italia box with a UK Sky sub card they both have different CAID idents which the receivers read.

Hi Friends, can someone point me in the right direction on how this can be done on a dm 500? The card updating, I mean. However, I need the info for Sly ITa as roumor has it that the original box is what is sending an error 9995 to the card.
