    Sky Magic Eye question

I have sat coax cable split 3 ways using a metal 1 in 3 out thingy. Like this:

    ----E

(Note my problem here is the splitter is lost behind the wall somewhere and finding it will require a hammer and a mad wife...)

Its currently transporting my cable tv but I am ditching the system to go with satellite.

I have run in new cables for Sat but rather than remove the old cable I want to try and run a magic eye over it.

From a magic eye point of view if I attach one of the three split cables to the sky rf and attach a magic eye to one of the other split cables will the eye be able to communicate to the sky rf ?

Haven't got one to test yet, was just wondering if it could be a runner first.

    Cheers.

to get any response to the rf outlet you must first enter the installers secret menu, to do this press services scroll down to system info then select, press 01select quickly, thats the secret menu scroll down to rf outlets press select then change outlet power supply to on. put your cable from the fr outlet into the splitter then put a magic eye on top of each tv that is fed from that splitter then you will be able to change channel on any tv that has a magic eye on it

thanks for that - very useful.

If the rf cable is one of those 3 prongs will the signal be able to get to the magic eye ? (I can only access the 3 outputs, cannot easily access the input)

          Lots and lots of reasons.

          1. Sky +
          2. Kids channels are better
          3. Better range of subtitles

          To name just a few.

Better kids channels? Theyre the same on cable..you could also buy a pvr receiver..

no one is answering my question !

The cable is upc - only has some bog standard kids channels (less than the uk). The sat has loads more.

Cheers, but I can't get at the input cable. I can only get at the outputs from the splitter as the splitter and cable are somewhere behind the wall.

Also I dont want to run a new cable as it would be a nightmare.

I just was wondering if anyone knows whether the signal can get from output A to output B.

some1 may prove me wrong but i dont think so, you say you had a cable from a cable company whoever it maybe, it must run into that input on the splitter. if it was me i would just cut the end off and put a male rf plug on the end and put it into your new sky box, if it a new built house then the wiring would be buried in the wall but i personally wouldnt let that stop me from making use of all round the house tv if the cables are already there.

Same here iv just moved into a non cable area. Yes sat has alot more channels but you cant get the premium sky channels on sat without a sub unlike cable.
