    Skybox F3 / Sky dish - Newbie

    Hi,
just after some advice if possible.

Im pretty new to sat stuff, but as a kid remember my dad having a motorized set up that made a whirling noise above my bedroom ceiling when i was in bed some 15 years ago.

Sky prices now take the piss with prices
and virgin media is a joke.

So im looking at getting a basic set up going.

as it stands dreambox's and motorised setups out my budget for now.

im after HD tv (1080p really not 720)
and sky channels and 3pm football (assuming tho this will require motorized dish for foerigh signal so no biggie if i cant do that just yet.

would the following get me started

    Skybox F3
along with a standard sky mini dish
and some form of css subscription.
or am i barking up the wrong tree?

    thanks for any help

it wont be 1080p as no broadcasts are 1080p

ah, ok so the box will output 1080p but no signal is 1080p yet.

sky the robbin bastards charge for hd and only send 720p.
      robbing bastards

is there a better box out there for a bit more cash ? im onyl wanting to start out, will invest in a dream box set up if all goes to plan

        if you are not buying a dreambox or a vu, I would look at a blade bm7000s , or a spiderbox 7000 or 9000 , or a technomate tm5402

the above are so much better than a skybox or an eagle

720p is HD and is perfectly adequate for satellite broadcasts but I believe the maximum is 1080i so dont look into that aspect too deeply, even 720p is excellent quality

the sly dish restriction will probably stop you getting any 3pm kickoffs, as you correctly pointed out you need a motorised system to take full advantage of what is out there

to mikeadams1985 get a spiderbox you wont need css for
start you can get it later gives you a good start, also
find a bigger dish not sky dish triax or somthing like also
good lnb if you by dreambox read up on it first regards jovie

True but it also depends on where the source master is located from most if not all movies are full HD 1080i broadcast but quite a few are upscaled as well, Tv series also can vary between 720p and 1080i depending on where they source the masters from.

Most prominently ABC in the states just show 720p masters and thats more than likely what is sourced here as well.

So although all Sly's channels may have a resolution of 1920x1080i does not always mean that is what is being broadcast.
