    Another Newbie pots

Apologies in advance for the generic newbie post but I've been doing some research regarding STBs and have hit a brick wall so to speak.

I have a ? 100 spending limit and have a sky mini dish already installed and I'm currently using the bog standard Sky STB.

Finances are running a bit tight at the moment and I've decided to cancel my current sky subscription. I've been doing some reading and the Dreambox 800 HD ( a clone version ) seems to be a sensible purchase. Do any of you guys have any specific recommendations on what STB I should purchase given my spending limit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance guys.

For just using on a Fixed 28.2? east dish then why not try a Skybox F3 for around ?53, seems to be plenty of support here for it in the openbox section worth a look

my choice would be the vu+solo clone... ?105 delivered from PRC in 7 days. this stb will do 7 day epg with picons running the excellent coolmans and will run on blackhole/vix and doesnt run hot or have a noisey fan like a dm800. the skybox f3 has a excellent hd picture but is very limited in all other departments. regards mdt

Thanks very much for your prompt reply guys!

Do either of the boxes you've recommended support stream over IP functionality, so for example, I could stream live T.V. via ethernet to another computer in the house?

        Thanks very much

Hi guys sorry to jump into the post! After reading a lot on the forums yesterday I finally bit the bullet and cancelled my cable services (except broadband) this morning. So am going down the satellite route. Just looking some general advice here. I can get a Sky dish (4LNB) for ?25 installed including the dish. So would I be right in saying that I just need a receiver and i'm good to go? Would any of you have a link to PRC website? (Had to cut n paste )

Wouldn't mind a look at one of these as i'm still undecided which box to get. There are a few for sale on Gumtree (Belfast) including "the gift" but price is dearer than i would like to pay. Thanks in advance.
