looking for advice on sky+hd box

Hi all great forum,
I have a subscription to sky so I am not after any free channels but up until the other day I was still using the old Grundig sky box. There is nowt wrong with it but I would like sky+ so I bought a sky+hd box and all the bits thinking it would be just a case of plugging it in but I have since found out sky would like another 10 per month for the privilege.
So being a bit miffed I scanned through the stuff I do pay for and noticed my movies don't come through either so have I wasted my dosh on the new box or is there anything I can do with it?

You need to pair your card to the new box.

Just call them up and they will do it over the phone

box and card are matched to box and recording is offline also so you cannot access it,all you can see is fta.

sly plus is free to any subscriber with a subbed package

the card needs to be paired to the box to get sports or movies if you pay for them

they will sort both of the above out for free with a simple phone call

the ?10 per month is for the HD channels to be enabled
this means if you pay for the family pack, and subscribe to HD, sly one HD , living HD , fx HD etc will become available to you.
not paying for HD means you only get fta channels like bbc1HD and itv1HD for instance

so you still have the bonus of fta HD channels even if you dont pay ?10 per month

and you will get the plus recording features free of charge too

I have just helped upgrade my m8 this way a few weeks ago, moving from an old amstrad box to sly plus HD at no extra cost, and all he doesnt get are the ?10 per month HD channels

Thanks for the replys, TBH I am not that interested in the HD side of things I only got the HD box because it was a good deal.
I will give sky a call on Monday to see if they are willing to help. Thanks again

Just want to say thanks, phoned sky and got it sorted. I was just about to take the Hdd out and bin the rest.
