half fixed half motorised, is it possible...

heres the situation, and i know i'm digging dep for diamonds.

got a 1.1 metre dish and motor, and a tm800hd box, and a bad arc litered with trees, the customer wants sky uk, and 13,16,19 east , is it possible to fit a static dish to take 28 east, and motorise the other 3 and then switch between them 2 via a switch!!!!

never heard of any installer doing this,so wondered if possible, i can't go fully motorised as can't see the whole picture, any help much appreciated,

    cheers
    1 metre dish,tm 5400ci super,tm 1500ci super,dreambox500s(currently a harsh learning curve)..

Hi. Use a 2 way Diseqc switch and it should work. I did it on a TM5400 a couple of year ago for somebody and it worked. I had the motor on port A and fixed dish(for 39 east) on port B on the switch. I cant remember though if you needed to have motor setting to OFF when viewing the fixed dish but i am sure you can find out. Try it as the switch dont cost much anyway.
    Regards

should be no problem, put the motor on A, 19e on B, 28.2E on C and 16e on D (although you can swap the B C D order if you wish)

mine is on A with 28e on C and 30w on D on a 4 way diseqc switch (with a darkmotor on A)

then its just a case of allocating the committ and uncommitt as necessary, and most satellites use committ 1 and uncommitt as OFF, and just the 3 fixed dishes using different settings as 2 3 4 with uncommitt as 1 or off

why not put them all on one fixed dish using bullet nosed LNBs?

thanks for replies people, can't do bullet nosed lnbs, corner of house, trees galore on corner one wall sky to miss trees other wall, to have motorised satellites, so i need a 4 way disceq switch to achieve this, if i've got this right, i run cable from sky dish to port a on switch, then cable from switch to box, then motor to port b, is that correct, would a 2-port switch be suffice, thanks for replies people,

on a 4 way diseqc switch

            motor to PORT A
            sky dish to PORT C

ports B and D used for any other fixed dishes

            or

on a 2 way diseqc switch

            motor to PORT A
            sky dish to PORT B

the COMMON goes to the receiver in all cases

well apparently it doesn't work on that type of disceq switch, the bloke in technomate shop sold me an isolation switch, instead, as he said wouldn't be enough voltage to power the motor properly,
so all sorted now, thanks for the replies people..

Hi . I have used 2 and 4 way switches a number of times and never had a problem with power supply to motors etc. I would have thought thats why they call them switches. As far as i am aware receiver can only supply power to one port at a time. As regards to picking up more satellites have you tried to use 1.2 to move dish left and right and see if you pick up anymore sats. If you find any dont forget to store them.

yes tried all that, the receiver was also a tm 800 so didn't behave like it shouls, i ended up tuning in with an old tm1500 as there more sensitive plus you get the yellow and blue signal bars...

Hi. Never had a TM800 have got a TM5400. Very odd that you can tune in a TM1500 but not a TM800. I must agree with regarding the signals bar. On my TM5400 i can tell if i have a problem with cables or LNB by looking at the signal bars ie if QUALITY and LEVEL are a red constant 90/22 then its an alignment or TP problem. If readings are erratic ie changing all the time then i know its a cable or LNB problem. Very useful to know.
