having trouble connecting,comes on for a few mins then scrambled,the virgin router has an orange light is there something i need to do to the router for the light to turn green.no probs with my dreambox but would like to try the skybox f3 cos of price thanks for any help

How are you connecting hard wired or through the wireless dongle, seen the Orange light part on a few routers seems to be normal behaviour for the F3, have you also tried updating to latest firmware.

I have the same setup. Mine works perfectly no problems. Do you have a virgin hub or just a router? If its any help i have the hub and when its all working correctly the top light on it is blue and then two others below are green. As mentioned try plugging in directly via ethernet or failing that log into your router and check firewall settings in case its blocking internet access to your Skybox.

You wont get a green ethernet light on your router, Skybox/Openbox only have 10/100 ethernet ports... You only get a green light when a Gigabit ethernet device is connected...
