Need help getting a better signal on my UK Sky dish

I have a DM800HD Sat Box.. The picture keeps braking up & I get a message saying "tuner failed".

Am trying to workout if the problem is the Box, Dish or Cable.

    My SNR is 37% - 51%
    My AGC is 97% - 99%

Don't know where to find out the BER %

note: I have the same trouble on all channels.

Idealy do you have a sky box you can connect too, that will tell you if the dish is offline, other thing could be your tuner could be on its way out...

To find your BER go into menu and look for satfinder in tuner config BER should be zero...

Thanks, Satfinder SNR 40%, AGC 99%, BER 0.

I take it that SNR is Signal.
      Whats AGC?
Think BER is a error count.. not sure..

        AGC = Automatic Gain Ratio

Automatic gain control - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SNR looks a little low for sly, what size dish are you using?

Could also update your channel list, and do you get freeview channels?

think of snr as signal as its signal to noise ratio
and think of agc as quality, although its automatic gain control

so in terms of signal and quality, you have poor signal but good quality, so in simple terms it appears your dish needs realigning as the snr should be between 75% and 98%, typically 80%

your location, dish size , lnb , and any obstructions like walls or trees are important here, so look for obvious faults or blockages giving poor signal

otherwise its ladders out and tweak the dish to peak the signal
