Need some help with scanning astra 28.2

Hi guys

i've recently purchased a genuine vu+ solo and i'm having problems setting it up.

I want to watch Sky UK channels / Freesat

I have a fixed dish on the side of my flat that was put up before i moved in.

I've tried to scan for channels and I only seem to find french channels when scanning the Astra/Eurobird 28.2E satellitte.

If i load the default channel listing for 28.2 channels like BBC 1 receive approx 60% signal but no video / audio is displayed/heard.

When i change channel to some channels i receive an error 'sid not found in PAT'

whats the problem? is my dish out of alingnment?

please help me i want to get into this hobby

if you are receiving french channels then the dish is not pointed at astra 2 so you wont get sky or freesat

"sid not found in pat" means tuning error, so the channel is missing or not transmitting, again leading me to believe your dish is pointed at a different satellite, probably 13e hotbird or 19e astra, not 28.2e astra 2

you could load the catseye channel list into the box and check the sly channels, but again if the dish is not pointed at the correct satellite it wont work

so blame the dish, not the box

also note there is a vu forum here, so suggest you use it in future

Dish misaligned or set up for maybe 19.2e or 13e.

Sounds like dish is on the wrong bird... Load a channel list that's KNOWN to work, such as Happy Highlanders, or Sgt Flip flops, and try BBC, ITV etc... If they are not there, then it's dish fiddling time!

thanks for the input guys, i have played around with the dish today and have had some success.

Now when I scan the astra satellitte i am able to pickup UK channels, bbc, itv, c4 etc but i do not pickup all the channels that i would expect to for example i pickup sky sports 2 but not sky sports 1 / 3 or any of the hd sports channels.

does this mean that my dish is still mis aligned?

what signal do you have on sky sports? have you loaded server details?

looks like your dish is way out. also check lnb and cable. where are you based, i have a guy who charges ?50 for full install, includes dish and quad lnb, if its just line up dish will be cheap. say where you are and somebody should know someone who can help

Get a zone 2 plus lnb for ?20 odd on ebay.. And it's easier than folk would have you believe...
