Very slow sky digital box

Is there any way to make the family sky box downstairs any faster because lately its very very slow?
I had a look at the engineering hacks somebody posted, would me doing this to our box make it any faster by a system re-set?
and if i did re-set it, i'd still get all the channels i recieve anyway right?

you need to download the latest software to speed it up mate..
power the box down,hold your finger on the backup button while
powering the box back up and keep your finger on it till you get
a screen saying system update then let go and in about 10mins
box will re-boot and should run faster!!!....all chnls same as before...

Its i downloaded remotely through your sky dish, all you have to do is listed above.

software will not always make the stb faster depends on what one of the 48 differant types you have some are born slow some are not.pvr models are dealt with in a differant way software download is the second thing you would do first a hard reset ..not one throught the epg unsure ask
