Sky HDMI channels no picture with normal sound

Solutions please! Non-HDMI (sound and picture) is fine. I don't think it's the dish because old HDMI recordings are also affected, normal sound but no picture. I've tried rebuilding the system and backup with new software installation. Sky have also sent me the HDMI signals umpteen times. Is there something obvious that I'm missing and can this be fixed without a call-out from Sky?

have you tried a different HDMI cable to see if that resolves the problem, If not could be the HDMI controller chip in the box itself could be goosed

Thank you; I've tried a different HDMI cable and scart. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the problem. Any other ideas.....

I forgot to add; I presume the need for a new HDMI controller chip suggests the need for a visit from Sky to replace the box. Unless you have any other thoughts...

Well if you tried another HDMI cable and still no picture or sound have you tried the box on another HDMI equipped TV to see if it is the box itself and not the HDMI on your main TV

Yes; I've plugged the box into another HDMI TV. Again the same problem: no picture but normal sound on HDMI. Non-HDMI channels play with normal picture and sound...

then that pretty much sums up that the problem lies with the HDMI controller chip inside the box and as you satet a home visit for a Box Swap

Considering the cost of a visit, do you recommend and/or know the quality of the sky HDMI 2TB box. Sky have a deal on for approx ?160

It would be cheaper sourcing a secondhand DRX890 from one certain auction site and buying a 2TB hard drive and replacing the original 500gb. Although is a Service call still ?65 it was when i subbied for them no idea if this has changed if so you get a re-con 890 and stick a 2TB in that one.

On the otherhand if you can afford the ?160 then take them up on there offer
