sky box info please

Info...I have an old pace sky box, when I replaced it with a thomson box, I used the pace for free to air programs ie itv bbc etc. I have tried to use the tomson as a free to air insteads of the pace box but it dosen't work. My question is can the tomson box be used without a card for free to air??

any sky box can be used without a card as a free to air box

all you need to do is a box scan by pulling out the power plug then hold in the backup button on the box not the handsett kepping the backup button down re connect the power it will take about 2mins and then a row leds will light up and on the sreen it will say update will take 10mins now let go of the backup button make sure the cable to the box dish is in befor you start then do a channel scan via installers menu and u get to that via handset 4 then 0 1 select .27485

Thanks for your imputs, I did as instructed and still no good,and I'm getting the no satilite signal message...(in mini tv)..I went to settings and the signal strenth and quality are good....Lock is ok.
The old box (pace) is working but the sky + box is not..
Any help welcomed.

you never mentioned it was a sly plus box, that requires 2 inputs from the dish or to have the menu altered to single tuner mode

so do one or the other
