Any motorised dish installers in Belfast area?

    Hi guys,

Are there any motorised dish installers on here in the Belfast area? I need some help! I've just had a motorised dish installed and I'm not sure it is porperly aligned. We have been unable to pick up any channels from other satellites. I've tried following some guides about using USALS but so far no such luck.

My installer has now manually set the dish to Astra 28.2E and I am now getting a signal. I haven't tried searching again from here in case the dish loses this satellite and doesn't recover. Would really appreciate the help of an expert if there is someone available in and around Belfast area! Of course I am not expecting this for free so happy to pay if it can be fixed. Thank yoU!

          Thanks for the help guys.

Actually I can't even get 28.2E now. I get absolutely nothing and the signal is rubbish. I'm sure this is an aligment issue. Very frustrating as there's also an extra cable that should have been run and wasn't. I specifically asked the installer that if he wasn't comfortable installing a motorised dish then I would get someone else but he said it would be no problem. Obviously that is far from the truth :-(.

grahampaull - thank you very much! I'll send you a PM :-)

Guys, thanks for all the help. I've been in contact with an installer thanks to a forum member who seems to know his shit and he's coming out tomorrow to have a look. I sent him some pictures and he said the install looks sound enough but will need some minor adjustments. Hopefully it won't be too much bother to get this up and running. Thank you to everyone for their input - especially ramjet as I would be otherwise completely lost without. Also - big thanks to grahampaull for offering his assistance. Much appreciated! I'll let you know out of interest how things go tomorrow.

if you have a static dish which is smaller and fixed ,you need a bigger dish with your new install, keep the fixed and add new setup and cables.

Not everyone wants an Earth Station installed on their house, Install a dish for the satellites you want and not for what you think you can get with a bigger dish.

                      Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay in updating you all! I'm almost there now. The guy recommended by this forum members came out and did a brilliant job. Hell of a nice guy actually. He said that the initial install was a pretty decent job. However, the motor easn't elevated properly and he had to make some adjustments to the dish as well. He then checked the box to ensure it was picking up other satellites again and it was. The only problem I have now is that the cable that powers the motor has a rubbish signal. Not enough to get me any channels which was part of the problem in the first place. The other cable works fine but it does not power the motor. In order to change satellites I have to remove the good cable and put in the rubbish one, then connect the good cable again. Its a bit of a pain but the installer is coming back out to fix this - hopefully in the morning some time.

Thanks again for all your help. Almost there!

My installer came out a few days ago and now I'm all sorted. It seemed as though a connection was loose on the end of the motor as a green LED light came on whenever he resecurred the connectors. Signal strength is fine now.

I've been having a lot of fun picking up different channels on different satellites etc. Is there a list of satellites that I should be able to get with an 80cm dish? A couple I am interested in is 4.0e and 42e.

Odd that when I move to 4.0e I seem to pick up a good signal but channels are either freezing completely or I just get sound. Very odd. Thanks

42? east should be obtainable from your location as well as i am assuming you mean 4.8? east Astra/SES this bird you should get the european beam but the Nordic on an 80cm maybe pushing it.

Buy a magazine called what satellite. You will get it in easons, in that you will find out what channels are on what sats and you will be able to see if you can get them with an 80cm dish.
